  33. I have been trying to setup a slip link from a linux box to a DOS system.
  34.  
  35. After a lot of trial and mostly error using a slip link from linux 99pl12
  36. to a dos system running wnos the problem was traced to an incompatability
  37. between linux and wnos header compression.  Recompiling the linux kernel
  38. with header compression off cured the problem.

  40. Is anyone else aware of this?

  55. I have here some problems with the Buckmaster CD-ROM and JNOS (1.10x15).
  56. I,m running JNOS on a 486SX/25 Mhz computer under MS-DOS 6.2.
  57. In my autoexec.nos i have the following commands:
  58. CDROM D:
  59. Callserver pi8esk.ampr.org 1235
  60. Callserver2 hostname pi8esk.ampr.org
  61. callserver2 database \ham0\hamcall.all
  62. start callbook
  63.  
  64. In the config.sys of the system i opened 50 files.
  65.  
  66. As soon as i use the CA command from the BBS or Callbook <callsign> from the 
  67. cmd screen  i,ll get the error:

  69. Could not open database - pse try later..
  70.  
  71. (in the meantime the CD-ROM was searched for the callsign)
  72. This happens even if the coreleft is 160 kb, the buckbook.h tells me that at least 77 kb is neccesary to get the database start

  75. If i,m shelling out to MS-DOS (multiserver is on) then it is not a problem to start the icall.exe from the Buckmaster CD-ROM.

  77. On my second system here ( a 486DX2-66Mhz) with the same configuration everything works fine, only that system is not in use fo

  80. So somewhere there must be a memoryproblem...i think....
  81. Hope someone can give me some further hints how to get the Buckmaster started
